The Macallan Double Cask Oak
Every Macallan single malt reveals the unrivalled commitment to the mastery of wood and spirit, the Macallan gold double cask is no exception. The Macallan ethos is to create peerless single malts.
What makes this Whisky a favourite malt of many aficionados is the exceptional oak casks for which The Macallan is renowned. Sourced, crafted, toasted and seasoned under the watchful eye of the Master of Wood, the hand-picked casks are delivered to the demanding specifications. It is the oak that makes the greatest contribution to the quality, natural colour and distinctive aromas and flavours at the heart of the Macallan gold double cask single malt whisky.
Once filled, the maturing spirit remains undisturbed in the same casks for the necessary number of years it needs to be worthy to create an incredibly smooth and rich single malt.
About The Macallan Distillery
Situated at the heart of Speyside, The Macallan was founded in 1824 by Alexander Reid, a barley farmer and illicit distiller. It is here that he built the first purpose-built distillery using his own spring water source, and it is from here that The Macallan’s journey to becoming one of the world’s most admired and collectable single malt whiskies began.
The Macallan is still made in the same way today as it was back then, using the same spring water source, the same barley variety and the same commitment to natural colour. The only thing that has changed is the scale; today The Macallan is enjoyed by whisky lovers all over the world. It’s one of our favourite drams here at Taste Talk of Dunkeld.
The Macallan Double Cask Gold is a perfect example of this commitment, made with only the finest quality European and American oak casks. The result is a whisky of unrivalled character and distinction; an expression of our commitment to creating what we believe to be the finest single-malt whisky in the world.
